Russia deployed 1,570 surface-to-air missile systems (SAM) in four military districts
Russian Land Forces have deployed 1,570 surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems in four military districts (as of March 2016), according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies` (IISS) report.

9K33M3 Osa-AKM (NATO reporting name: SA-8B Gecko) and 9K35M3 Strela-10 (SA-13 Gopher) still remain the most numerous SAM systems of Russian Land Forces. The Army has deployed 400 Osa-AKMs and 400 Strela-10s respectively.

Russian Land Forces have a fleet of over 350 9K37 Buk-M1/M2 (SA-17 Grizzly) and over 120 2K22 Tunguska (SA-19 Grison) systems. As of March 2016, over 250 2K22 Tunguska (SA-19 Grison) self-propelled anti-air gun-missile (SPAAGM) systems have also been deployed.

The motorised rifle units of the Army have several thousands of man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), including SA-16 Gimlet Igla-1, 9K38 Igla (SA-18 Grouse) and 9K338 Igla-S (SA-24 Grinch). The KBM company (a subsidiary of the High-Precision Weapons holding) has started the deliveries of the newest 9K333 Verba MANPADS to Russian Armed Forces.
