The
M1043A2 HMMWV Humvee is an upgraded version of the basic Humvee version.
The vehicle is designed and manufactured by the American Defence Company
AM General. The M1043A2 variant has been produced to replace the M1043
and M1044 variants. These vehicles provide immediate, mobile, suppressive
and destructive fires in support of the maneuver unit commander. The
M1043A3 is in service in the U.S. army since August 1, 1985. |
Armament |
The
M1043A2 can be armed on the roof of the vehicle with the M240G
7.62 mm medium machine gun, M2 .50 caliber, heavy barrel machine
gun or the MK19, 40mm, heavy machine gun. The weapons platform
could be traversed 360 degrees.

Design
and protection |
The
M1043A2 armament carriers featured supplemental armor that provided
added ballistic protection for armament components, crew, and
ammunitionMarine Armor Kit (MAK) can be installed on M1043A2,
in either two or four door configurations. |
Mobility |
The
chassis, mechanical components and general performance are the
same as other models of the standard Humvee M998 series. The
M1043A2 is motorized with a V-8, 6.5L Diesel Fuel Injection
engine coupled to an 4-speed automatic transmission with a maximum
input torque rating of 451 lb.-ft. (612 N m). The M1043A2 Humvee
uses independent suspensions and portal geared hubs similar
to portal axles to make for a full 46cm of ground clearance.
The vehicle also has disc brakes on all 4 wheels, and 4-wheel
double-wishbone suspension. A key element of the 1995 A2 series
modification package was the introduction of a new 6.5-liter
naturally aspirated diesel engine with improved 160 horsepower
rating. The new engine was coupled with an electronically controlled
four-speed automatic transmission and a new exhaust emission
system with catalytic converter that had been redesigned to
meet new 1995 environmental standards.

M1043A2 vehicle may cross a water depth up to 0.76m without

(similar to front seats used in A1 models); optional composite
rear troop seats for the cargo area; 2300-lb. capacity cargo
