The StrykerX is a technology demonstrator and not an evolution of the Stryker 8x8 armored vehicles. With the StrykerX General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) shows its capabilities to reduce vehicle emission and consumption according to new requirements of the United States armed forces.

The StrykerX has a completely new design. Now, the driver and commander are seated next to each other to improve communication, but also to offer the commander the possibility to drive the vehicle if necessary. In the standard configuration of the Stryker, the driver is located at the front left side of the hull with the vehicle commander behind. The front of the StrykerX is fitted with two hatches.

The rear part of the StrykerX has been modified to offer more space and comfort for the troops. Soldiers inside StrykerX are protected by an integrated Active Protection System and advanced electronic architecture with cyber defense. To increase observation capabilities, the roof of the vehicle can be used to carry a drone which can be used to conduct reconnaissance missions operated by the troops from inside of the vehicle under armor protection. StrykerX's arrays of sensors provide its occupant's 360-degree situational awareness and see-through armor capability.

In terms of mobility, the GDLS StrykerX technology demonstrator is motorized with a hybrid diesel-electric power pack. Supporting the U.S. Army's climate and electrification strategies, the StrykerX technology demonstrator brings to the Stryker family vehicle capabilities such as silent movement, silent watch, exportable electric power, and reduced fuel consumption via a hybrid diesel-electric power pack.

At AUSA 2022, the StrykerX is fitted with a Kongsberg remotely operated weapon station armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun and one Javelin anti-tank guided missile launcher to increase the firepower of the vehicle.
