Ukraine has delivererd Kozak-5 4x4 armored vehicles to Saudi Arabia


According to information published by the Ukrainian defense magazine "Defense Express" on August 13, 2021, the Ukrainian company NVO Practika has announced two important export contracts for 2021, including the delivery of Kozak-5 4x4 armored vehicles to Saudi Arabia.

The defense industry of Ukraine is the most advanced branch of the state-controlled sector of Ukraine's economy. Ukraine's defense industry employs more than one million people and produces advanced hardware and continues to design and build new military systems. For 2019 the main importers of Ukrainian weapons were India, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

According to SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) report, Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest arms importer, increased its arms imports by 61% and Qatar by 361%.

The Kozak is a family of 4x4 armored personnel carrier fully developed and designed by the Ukrainian company NPO Practika, that was unveiled for the first time in August 2009 during a military parade in Kyiv.

The Kozak-5 is designed to be used by police or Special Forces units. The vehicle is based on 4x4 civilian commercial chassis Ford F550. The vehicle is able to accommodate up to 10 military personnel or police officers.

The Kozak-5 has a length of 6.23 m, a width of 2.5 m, and a height of 2.3 m. It has a weight of 12,000 kg. The vehicle is motorized with an Iveco Tector six-cylinder, 6l turbo engine developing 279 hp. coupled to a six-speed ZF manual gearbox. It can run at a maximum road speed of 120 km with a maximum cruising range of 1,000 km.

The hull of Kozak-5 provides ballistic protection STANAG 4569 Level 2 against the firing of small arms 7.62×39mm API (Armor-piercing) ammunition and artillery shell splinters.
