Deftech of Malaysia unveils new Lipanbara 4x4 HMAV High Mobility Armoured Vehicle at DSA 2016.
The latest state of the art 4x4 High Mobility Armoured Vehicle (HMAV) has been named as "Lipanbara", after the lethal and poisonous centipede found in the Malaysian jungles. This armoured vehicle will be primarily used in hostile zones for insertion and extraction of security troops, as well as for escort duties.

Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, officiated the naming of the vehicle at the DEFTECH Pavilion during the Defence Sen/ices Asia 2016 exhibition (DSA 2016) at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The Lipanbara is currently showcased at the DEFTECH pavilion during the entire period of the Defence Services Asia 2016 exhibition at Putra World Trade Centre. Kuala Lumpur from April 18th till 21st, 2016.

"DEFTECH was awarded the contract by the Government of Malaysia to supply 20 units of the Lipanbara worth RM140,980,000 on 7 July 2015, for the Malaysian Army The first unit of the Lipanbara is expected to be delivered to the Malaysian Army by mid 2016", said Lt Kol (K) Dato' Amril Samsudin, Group Chief Executive Officer of DEFTECH.

With an engine power of up to 300 Horsepower(hp), the Lipanbara is able to carry a payload weight of up to two (2) tons and will be equipped with M134D-H Gatling Gun 7.62mm from Dillon Aero. Laser Warning and 76mm Grenade Launcher system DEFTECH is collaborating with Chaiseri Co Ltd of Thailand under the ASEAN Defence Industry Initiative in fulfilling the HMAV 4x4 requirements by customising it to Malaysian Infantry Standard.

"The level of protection of the Lipanbara is highly classified, but adheres to the stringent NATO Standard under the STANAG 4569 protocol," concluded Lt Kol (K) Dato' Amril.

Johari Baharum, Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato' Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Mohamad Radzi, Secretary General of Defence Ministry, General Tan Sri Dato' Sri (Dr.) Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin, Chief of Armed Forces, YM Jen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor, Chief of Army, YBhg Brigadier General (K) Tan Sri Dato' Sri (Dr) Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, Chairman of DRB-HICOM Bhd, YBhg Dato' Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM Bhd and other dignitaries.
