Noting that stab threats are increasing across the UK and on the continent, the inventive team behind the original solutions provided by Diamond Age set out to develop a product that provides additional protection. Between 2014 and 2016, the annual number of knife assaults faced by London Met officers alone increased by over 450, highlighting the essential need for equipment that considers this growing risk. The solution is the revolutionary armour vest developed by Diamond Age. Flexible and weighing less than 4kg per square meter, it’s drastically lighter than competitors on the market allowing for improved mobility. Offering ballistic protection equivalent to the NIJ’s IIIa rating, as well as highly effective resistance against knife and spike attacks.

Jake Ganor, CEO Diamond Age, said, “This risks that police officers in the UK and Europe face today are rapidly changing and the gear that these officers are equipped with needs to evolve to reflect that. Knife crime is, unfortunately, on the rise and knife-resistant armour vests that are light, durable, and effective should be a standard part of the equipment forces have at their disposal. The latest innovations from Diamond Age are designed to give police and security an extra layer of protection without hindering their performance. The armour panel we’re unveiling at DSEI -- which offers protection to NIJ IIIa and displays resistance to knife and spike threats, at less than 4kg per square meter and less than 4.5mm thick -- is in a league of its own.”

It’s not just the brand’s latest armour vest that will be on display at DSEI either. The leading brand will also be demonstrating the prowess of its lightweight level IV body armour plates and its rifle-resistant helmets, the only helmet on the market that can stand up to all common rifle rounds. Ganor added, “We’re thrilled to be a part of this year’s huge DSEI event and are looking forward to building connections through demonstrating just how tough and innovative our designs really are. It provides us with a great opportunity to gather feedback for the exciting products we have in the pipeline too.”
