Experts of the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) completed another cycle of test trials of the model of a light convertible aircraft. They were held in the wind-tunnel small-speed T-102 facility of TsAGI in the framework of the state contract with the Russian Industry and Trade Ministry, TsAGI press service said.

"The light convertible aircraft is designated to carry 50 passengers or 6 tons of cargoes on local and regional routes at a cruising speed of 480 km/h. It is distinguished by the capability to carry passengers or cargo without changing the type design," it said.

The test trials were held along two guidelines. At the first stage the scientists determined aerodynamic characteristics of the single body during takeoff with side wind and then a specialized device was used to study aerodynamic characteristics of the propeller.

The next step will include tests of the aircraft model with power plant imitators and operating propeller also in case one engine malfunctions. After full body and its elements' characteristics are studied the scientists will provide conclusions about interference influence on the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft.

TsAGI experts said test trials had so far confirmed the high aerodynamic characteristics of the perspective aircraft in a wide range of attack and gliding angles.
