Russian airborne troops are ready to use electronic warfare EW vehicles Infauna and Leer-2 0410124

During these military exercices, airborne troops tested the developement of a new architecture of command for EW units that meet the modern requirements.

The Russian airborne troops used the latest military equipment that came into service in late 2012 and in 2012, including the Russian-made electronic warfare vehicle Infauna using a modified chassis of the BTR-80 wheeled armoured personnel carrier named K1Sh1 (GAZ-59039) and the Tigr MKTK REI PP a mobile technical control vehicle with electronic emulation and electronic countermeasures system "Leer-2".

"These electronic warfare vehicles have shown high efficiency in their work and confirmed the choice of Russian army to upgrade existing models of equipment and the development of new electronic warfare equipment for the Airborne Troops.", said the chief of the Russian Airborne Electronic Warfare units, Colonel Sergei Gashkov.

The Tigr MKTK REI PP with Leer-2 electronic warfare system is designed for developing radio emitters, jamming and suppressing radio-electronic means including cellular phone systems. In addition, the system can be used as part of field tests to create realistic tactical electronic situations and imitating the operation of various radio-electronic systems.

The new multirole Infauna electronic warfare vehicle is able of jamming radio-controlled mines and improvised explosive devices. The vehicle is designed to interfere with radio-controlled explosive devices and electronic fusing systems as well as jamming the enemy’s tactical communications systems.
