Previously, the 43rd Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces used civilian trucks that lacked the ability to transport the 57-ton PzH 2000 in off-road conditions and had limited speed compared to military transport trucks.
Citing information from Ukrainian media, the Poroshenko Foundation and the Ukrainian volunteer association “SPRAVA HROMAD” received export license authorization from the United States Department of Defense to purchase two Oshkosh M1070 military transporter trucks.
The M1070 HET (Heavy Equipment Transporter) is a military truck produced by Oshkosh Defense, a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation. It is designed to transport heavy armored vehicles and equipment, such as tanks and artillery pieces, over long distances. The M1070 HET is highly mobile, with a powerful engine, heavy-duty suspension, and a low profile, which allows it to navigate rough terrain and obstacles with ease.
The M1070 HET is capable of transporting heavy armored vehicles and equipment, such as tanks and artillery pieces, weighing up to 70 tons. It has a heavy-duty construction, including a robust chassis and suspension, which provides it with the durability to withstand tough conditions during transportation.
The M1070 HET is powered by a Detroit Diesel 16V149 diesel engine. This engine provides the truck with ample power and torque to transport heavy loads, even over rough terrain. The engine is coupled with an Allison HD4060P automatic transmission that provides smooth and efficient operation. The combination of the engine and transmission gives the M1070 HET the power and mobility it needs to carry out its mission effectively. It can reach a maximum road speed of approximately 72 km/h.
The M1070 HET has a fuel tank capacity of approximately 1,514 liters, which provides it with a considerable operating range. It can reach a maximum cruising range of 500 km.
