French army launches military operation Sangaris to restore security in Central African Republic. | |||
After
a decision takes by the French President François Hollande, the
military operation named “Sangaris” was launched during night
of December 6, 2013 in the Central African Republic (CAR). The goal of
this operation is to restore the security and humanitarian situation in
CAR and to help the MISCA (UN mission in the Central African Republic)
in the country. |

Sangaris operation of the French Army in Central African Republic is under the command of General Francisco Soriano. |

The Sangaris operation
was launched after the UN Council unanimously adopted a resolution December
5, 2013, authorizing the International Support Mission, an African Union
(AU) peacekeeping force known by its French acronym MISCA, as well as
the deployment of French troops to assist it. |
