Cherkasy
car factory, part of the Ukraine's Bogdan Corporation, has presented the
'Bars' (panther) multifunctional light armored vehicle. The factory developed
the vehicle by itself. The all-wheel drive car is intended to be used
for tactical tasks, patrolling the border, protecting roadblocks and conducting
military operations in urban areas. The vehicle was demonstrated to National
Guard of Ukraine chiefs, according to the company's press release on Monday.

The factory developed
the armored vehicle within a short period of time, under conditions
relating to the ongoing military action in eastern Ukraine, as the army
is not fully equipped with the necessary equipment, the factory's director
Vladyslav Sopita said in a press release.
According to the company, the newly developed vehicle has a number of advantages over its competitors. For instance, various combat modules can be mounted on top of it. "The capacity of the factory allows us to manufacture 50 vehicles a month," the press service quoted Sopita as saying. |

company's press service told Interfax-Ukraine that the vehicle was made
from domestic parts. Its estimated value is UAH 1 million. According
to the press release, 'Bars' is much more maneuverable than the other
vehicles used in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone. It can be used
to transport personnel and cargo under firefight conditions. The vehicle's
passenger capacity is six to eight people wearing full armor. In addition,
the car can include night vision devices, Cyclone dust-collecting unit
and other devices at the customer's request. The vehicle's basic configuration
already includes GPS navigation device, air conditioning, etc. Cherkasy car factory was created 2008. It specializes in motor cars and manufactures 120-150 vehicles a year. |
