"In 2016, new AMN-233114 Tigr-M variant equipped with Arbalet-DM remotely controlled weapon station (RCWS) will be demonstrated for the first time. The vehicles are supposed to accompany 15U175M mobile launchers of RS-24 Yars (NATO reporting name: SS-27 mod 2) inter-continental ballistic missiles (ICBM) at the 2016 Victory Day Parade on May 9," the source said.
Tigr-M armoured car upgraded with Arbalet-DM RCWS was demonstrated for the first time at RAE 2015 (Russia Arms Expo 2015) defense show in Nizhny Tagil. The module was jointly developed by JSC Gunsmith`s Shops (Oruzheynie Masterskie) and Kovrov Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ). In basic configuration Arbalet--DM station is armed with 12.7 mm 6P49 Kord heavy machinegun with ammunition load of 150 12.7x108 mm cartridges. Kord can be replaced by PKT/PKTM machinegun chambered for 7.62x54 mm cartridge. Arbalet-DM has received advanced TV and thermal cameras, allowing the module to detect armoured personnel carriers at distances up to 2.5 km and up to 1.5 km, respectively. The module`s sighting system incorporates laser rangefinder. Arbalet-DM can be integrated in perspective unified combat management systems. |
