Russian Bakhcha-U combat turret from KBP will increase firepower of IFV Infantry Fighting Vehicle | |||
At present, infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) is one of the most popular type combat vehicle on the global arms market. Mechanized infantry that rides IFVs or armoured personnel carriers (APC) is the strike force of many armed forces. Therefore, IFVs remain in high demand by various countries.

Russia`s Instrument Design Bureau (Russian acronym: KBP, a subsidiary of the High-Precision Weapons Holding) has developed the Bakhcha-U combat turret that drastically increases the capabilities of IFVs, according to the High-Precision Weapons` corporate newspaper issued at the LIMA 2017 (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2017) exhibition in Malaysia.
At present, Russia`s BMP-3 IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) is one of the most popular vehicles of the type on the global market. It is in service with many foreign armies. The Bakhcha-U combat module designed by KBP allows increasing of the BMP-3`s combat capabilities in a drastic manner. Bakhcha-U is designed to engage on the move and at halt a wide range of targets including tanks, light armoured vehicles, weapon systems (for instance, anti-tank guided hardware), exposed and covered manpower, and aerial targets (helicopters and low-flying fixed-wing aircraft). The Bakhcha-U combat module is fitted with the following weapons: a 100 mm 2A70 gun-launcher, a 30 mm 2A72 automatic cannon, and a 7.62 mm PKTM machinegun. They are combined in a single unit. The module features a unified automated round-the-clock fire control system that integrates a combined day/night gunner`s sight with independent dual-axis stabilization of the field of view with visual, infrared, range-finding, and missile guidance channels; a panoramic commander`s sight with independent dual-axis stabilization of the field of view with infrared and range-finding channels; a new weapon stabilizing system of increased aiming speed and accuracy; a digital ballistic computer with a sensor suite; a control unit; a TV-infrared auto-tracker; and an electric automatics system. The ammunition load of the Bakhcha-U combat module includes 464 pieces of 30 mm ammunition (armour-piercing, armour-piercing tracer, or high-explosive fragmentation rounds), 2,000 7.62 mm cartridges, 4 100 mm 3UBL23-3 Arkan guided missiles, and 34 100 mm 3UOF19-1 high-explosive fragmentation rounds of enhanced firing range (the missiles and the 100 mm rounds are stored in the autoloader). |
