Russian firearms manufacturer Kalashnikov unveils new AK-19 NATO 5.56mm assault rifle
According to information released by the Russian press agency TASS, on August 19, 2020, the Kalashnikov Company, one of the world's leading firearms manufacturers unveils its new AK-19 assault rifle chambered for 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge. It will be displayed at Army-2020 military technical forum, which will take place in the Moscow Region from 27 to 29 August 2020.

“The new AK-19 assault rifle has a light telescopic buttstock with improved ergonomics, a new rear sight and a flash suppressor that can be fitted a silencer to reduce noise and recoil. The new rifle has a weight of 3.3350 kg and the barrel has a length of 415-mm.
The development of the AK-19 is based on the AK-12 family which was designed for Ratnik future soldier program of the Russian army.
The new AK-19 keeps the design of the AK-12, the assault rifle is equipped with a pistol grip, adjustable and folding buttstock, and quick detach muzzle brake which allows installing various muzzle devices. The upper part of the receiver is fitted with a Picatinny rails, which allow the operator to use day/night sights, tactical lights, and other equipment.
As for all the AK assault rifle variants, the traditional locations of the cocking handle, safety lever, and fire selector remained unchanged, but the AK-19's model featured revisions to all of these features.
