Uzbekistan Presents Arslon 6x6 Armored Personnel Carriers at IDEX-2025.

At the IDEX-2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Uzbekistan showcased its commitment to modernizing its defense capabilities with the unveiling of three NATO-standard military vehicles. Among them was the Arslon 6x6 armored personnel carrier (APC), which promises to enhance the country's defense posture with its advanced features and compact design, tailored for urban combat and challenging terrains.

The Arslon 6x6 represents a more agile version of its larger sibling, the Arslon 8x8, and is built to meet NATO standards with an emphasis on durability and protection. Weighing 22 tons, it is lighter than the Arslon 8x8, which comes in at 32 tons, but it does not compromise on the protection of its crew and passengers. The APC is equipped with composite armor that meets NATO STANAG VI standards, providing robust defense against small arms fire and explosives.

Powered by a 450-horsepower engine, the Arslon 6x6 can reach a top speed of 110 km/h, which offers an advantage in terms of mobility and maneuverability. This makes it particularly suited for urban combat, where agility is critical, and for navigating narrow spaces that larger vehicles may struggle to access.

The vehicle features a 30mm automatic cannon and a secondary 12.7mm machine gun, both of which are mounted on a Remote Weapon Station (RWS). This system provides automated enemy tracking and 360° situational awareness, allowing the crew to engage targets with precision. The electro-optical targeting system further enhances the vehicle's effectiveness in combat scenarios, making the Arslon 6x6 a formidable presence on the battlefield.

One of the key highlights of the Arslon 6x6 is its flexibility and design. Unlike older Soviet-era APCs that were primarily designed for mass production rather than combat efficiency, the Arslon 6x6 reflects Uzbekistan’s shift towards NATO-standard technology. This transition to more modern and capable systems ensures that the country's defense forces are better equipped to handle contemporary threats.

Uzbekistan's move to develop NATO-compatible military systems like the Arslon 6x6 APC signals a new chapter in its defense strategy, moving away from reliance on outdated Soviet-era technology. As the country continues to expand its defense industry and reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers, the Arslon 6x6 is a step toward greater self-sufficiency and security.

The IDEX-2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi served as a platform to showcase Uzbekistan's growing defense capabilities, with the Arslon 6x6 standing out as an example of how the country is advancing its military technology. The Arslon series, with its combination of robust protection, advanced weaponry, and improved mobility, marks a significant milestone in Uzbekistan’s efforts to modernize its military and align with NATO standards.

With these new armored vehicles, Uzbekistan not only enhances its own defense but also positions itself as a regional leader in military innovation.
