GDA 2019: Kuwait displays its Sherpa vehicles


During GDA 2019, the International Gulf Defense - Aerospace - Homeland Security Exhibition taking place in Kuwait from the 10 to 12 December 2019, Kuwait Forces displayed its recently acquired Sherpa vehicles.

Last year Arquus and Kuwait signed a formal contract for 300 Sherpa Light scout vehicles which are now in production. This contract follows that for 25 heavy trucks ordered earlier, aimed at equipping Kuwaiti Special Forces. These vehicles were delivered this year.

Sherpa Light

Sherpa Light is a complete family of light tactical vehicles sharing the same 4x4 chassis specifically designed for military needs and offering high performance in terms of mobility, protection and payload. Sherpa Light has assured numerous armies and police forces in France and several NATO countries, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.

The Sherpa Light family comprises of different versions adapted to their usage profiles:

- Military: reconnaissance, patrol, command and liaison, special forces, weapon system carrier, troop transport, forward logistics, ambulance.
- Internal security: police, national guard, intervention units, counter terrorism, border guards.

Sherpa Light Scout

The Sherpa Light Scout is one of the variant of the Sherpa Light family designed and manufactured by the French company Renault Trucks Defense. Launched at Eurosatory 2006, the Sherpa Light is a 4x4 vehicle all terrains mainly dedicated to projection, intervention and logistic units.

The Scout variant (former Sherpa 2), available in unarmoured or armoured variants, is ideally suited for tactical missions such as scouting, patrol, convoy escort and command and liaison. It is able to transport up to 4 or 5 soldiers and a roof mounted weapon system. Fully air transportable (A400M / C-130), multirole and ready for being up-armoured (ballistic and mine kits) the Sherpa Light Scout has already been adopted by NATO, France and other countries.
