IDEAS 2016: Lenco presents pickup variant of its BearCat G3 armored vehicle
Besides from the well-known BearCat G3 armored tactical vehicle, the US-based vehicle manufacturer Lenco is unveiling the new BearCat X3 all terrain special operations vehicle at IDEAS 2016 defense and security exhibition in Karachi, Pakistan. According to Lenco, a full scale model of the vehicle will be introduced at IDEX 2017 in Abu Dhabi.

The new X3 variant keeps the main specifications than the baseline BearCat. It is also a 4 wheel drive vehicle, featuring a maximum speed of 130 km/h and an armoring level of up to BR7 level. But the X3 adopts a pick-up design. The seats have been limited to 4-5 operators in order to increase the loading capacity thanks to a new cargo platform on the rear of the vehicle. In basic configuration, the BearCat X3 features a cargo capacity of 2 - 2,5 m3 cubic feet, or 900 kg load.

The BearCat X3 is also designed for Border Security Operations, which includes integration of the Telephonics Radar and Video Enforcement Network-Mobile (RaVEN-M) system along with NetCom and TruLink intercom units.

The BearCat X3 kept the 360° rotating hatch, which can be equipped with a shield and armed with 7.62 mm or machine gun or a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. According to Lenco, various weapon stations can also be mounted on the rear platform, such as short-range air defense systems and heavy machine guns.

For its close protection, the BearCat is equipped with ballistic windows, spot lights, back-up camera, and can optionnaly be fitted with ground surveillance radar, thermal camera, CBRNE detection or even a remote-controlled water nozzle.
