The Pechora-2M is a surface-to-air anti-aircraft short-range missile system designed for destruction of aircraft, cruise missiles, assault helicopters and other air targets at ground, low and medium altitudes. The Pechora-2M was developed and produced by Russian-Belarus Oboronitelniye Sistemi (Defence Systems). This new system, use the old S-125 (SA-3 Goa) missile mounted to the back side of a light truck. The system is an effective weapon against all aerodynamic means of attack. It is especially effective in comparison with other air defence systems in struggle with low-flying and small-size targets. The system is also capable of destroying the ground-based targets. The new optronic system will provide detection, identifying and tracking the air targets both in the day and at night. Active noise protection means against self-homing missiles on target emanation are introduced into the system. The modernized missile has increased range and efficiency of target engagement. |
