Multipurpose wheeled armored vehicle - Türkiye

Arma 6x6 Otokar 925 001

Description

ARMA 6x6 is the next generation product of Otokar developed by considering future mission requirements based on multi purpose wheeled vehicle platform.

ARMA vehicle development program was started in the date of 2007. Concept design, detailed design and engineering studies were completed within 2008. Mine blast effects, mobility performances, hydrostatic stability, driving comfort and other features were analized by using special engineering tools and simulations. First prototypes were produced at the beginning of 2009 and validation tests regarding trials, durability, driveline durability, reliability, hot and cold climate tests were performed succesfully. Furthermore, a mine blast mock-up was produced simultaneously and explosion tests were performed succesfully within 2010.

ARMA 6X6 was shown for the first time at the EUROSATORY held in Paris in June 2010 by which time development and company trials had been completed and Otokar was awarded with two contracts in the following year.

ARMA proved its performance and mobility under diverse conditons in trials and capability demonstration runs at different GCC countries.

Technical Data

Armament
ARMA family, due to its high payload capacities, allows integration with various types of mission equipment and weapon systems. ARMA supports weapon stations like open cupola, closed turret weapon station, remote control weapon station, medium and high caliber weapon systems.

Some of the weapon systems that can be integrated to ARMA are:

- Open Cupola with like 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm, 14.5 mm and 20 mm Machine Gun or Automatic Grenade Launcher
- Closed Turret with 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm
- Remote Control Weapon Station with 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm, 14.5 mm
- Medium Caliber Weapon Systems like 25 mm, 30 mm
- High Caliber Weapon Systems like 90 mm, 105 mm, 120 mm
- Anti Tank Missile Launcher Systems

A variety of weapon stations offering a wide range from the self-defence to direct fire support capabilities can be configured according to customer requirements.
Design and protection
ARMA vehicles are designed by considering future and present mission requirements. Vehicle architecture allows the integration of a wide range of mission equipment and specific turret systems. Basic monocoque type body and double wall V-shaped hull structure provide exceptional protection to the crew against ballistic and mine threats. Modular armor kits providing different ballistic protection can be mounted rapidly to bolt on armour and additional protection against higher threats can be provided optionally.

ARMA 6X6 has an 18,500 kg gross weight and carries a driver, commander and eight personnel in its fully protected hull. ARMA 6x6 vehicles is transportable by rail, sea and air (C-130 and larger aircrafts).

ARMA 6x6 can provide a high level of protection against ballistic and mine threats by means of high hardness monocoque steel hull and all personnel is seated on individual mine protected seats. The crew compartment has firing ports and bullet proof observation windows together with two roof hatches and the crew members can rapidly enter and leave the vehicle via one door in the rear.
Mobility
The engine is located at the right front of the vehicle, allowing a comparably high internal volume to be efficiently and ergonomically used. With this internal layout, all the personnel especially the commander can keep eye contact continuously among each other.

ARMA 6x6 is equipped with a 450hp powerful engine and proven driveline components to perform a superior mobility on all terrain conditions. Water-cooled turbo diesel engine capable of running on F-34 or F-54 fuel drives the wheels through an automatic gearbox and single-speed transfer box.

The independent suspension system enhanced with Run Flat Tires, built-in Central Tyres Inflation System (CTIS) and Anti-locking Brake System (ABS) improves ground mobility and ride comfort even over the roughest terrain. Vehicle’s mobility is further enhanced with longitudinal and transverse differential locks and the high power to weight ratio coupled with high ground clearance and approach/departure angles.
Accessories
ARMA 6x6 is amphibious and driven by 2 hydraulically driven propellers in water allowing a high seagoing performance with pivot turn capability.
