Description

The NIMR 6x6 APC is an armoured vehicle personnel carrier developed, designed and manufactured in United Arab Emirates (UAE) by the Company Nimr Automotive. Nimr Automotive is a subsidiary of Tawazun Holding, an Abu Dhabi-based strategic investment company engaged in the long-term development of the UAE‘s industrial manufacturing and technology capabilities. Knowledge transfer with a specific focus on defense manufacturing technology remains a vital spoke in the wheels of Tawazun. In September 2012, Nimr Automotive has announced that it has been issued the prestigious 'STANAG 4569 Level 3' certification by an independent testing authority for its newest vehicle, the Nimr 6x6 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC). The certification is based on standards set forth by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Standardization Agreement. At IDEX 2013, the Company has showed for the first time to the public its new range of NIMR armoured vehicle including the NIMR 6x6 armoured vehicle variant. Designed to provide maximum operational flexibility and protection, the Nimr Armored Personnel Carrier is a long range 6x6 vehicle. With a capacity to transport up to 10 soldiers, the vehicle can additionally be fitted with remotely operated weapon and communication systems. The NIMR 6x6 APC has payload of 1.8 tones, and with a range of available features and options, it provides the customer a high level of flexibility to customize the vehicle to meet any specific requirement. The NIMR 6x6 shall be capable of operating in temperatures ranging between -30°C and +55°C.

Armament

The NIMR 6x6 APC can be fitted with a wide range of armament or a remotely operated weapon station armed with weapons up to 30 mm automatic cannon.

Design and protection

The layout of the NIMR 6x6 APC is conventional with the engine compartment at the front, the crew in the middle and the troop’s area at the rear. The vehicle is able to transport up to 10 fully equipped soldiers. The NIMR 6x6 APC is fully armored to provide mine and ballistic protection as per customer requirements with optional add on panel protection kit for additional protection, and is able to withstand ballistic threats (hostile fire) as well as land mine and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks by means of specially designed add-on armor and land mine protection technology. The vehicle provides this protection without compromising ergonomic conditions .Stowage within the vehicle is designed in such a way that a blast impact will not cause equipment to fly loose, which might cause injury or death. All equipment are stored and mounted and are easily accessible and visible to the operating crew.

Mobility

The NIMR 6x6 APC is powered by a Cummins ISBe 360 6 cylinders in-line Diesel engine coupled to an a 6 speed automatic transmission Allison Sp 3200 with 6 speeds. The vehicle has independent suspension, six wheel air over hydraulic service brakes and parking brake are standard. The NIMR 6x6 APC can run at a maximum road speed of 135 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km at 100 km/h. The vehicle can negotiate a gradient of 60% maximum, a side slope of 30% and fording depth of 100 cm without preparation.

Accessories

Standard equipment of the NIMR 6x6 APC includes air conditioning, run flat and central tire inflation system. an in option the vehicle can be equipped with a self-recovery winch mounted at the front of the vehicle, an NBC protection system, GPS, FFR (Fitted For Radio) and Anti-lock braking system (ABS).
