Design and protection
The design of the Ejder Yalcin is conventional for a modern wheeled armored vehicle personnel carrier with the engine at the front, the crew in the middle and the troop's compartment at the rear. The vehicle can carry a total of 12 military personnel including driver and commander. The hull of the Edjder Yalcin is of all-welded steel armor construction that provides ballistic protection against the firing of small arms and shell splinters. The vehicle is based on monocoque structures with an integrated V-shaped armored hull that increases vehicle and crew survivability by deflecting an upward directed blast from a landmine or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) away from the vehicle, while also presenting a sloped armor face. The vehicle also integrates floating floor plates offering more protection against mine blast explosion under the vehicle. The ballistic protection can be increased by the use of add-on armor. In option, the vehicle can be fitted with cage armor to offer more protection against RPGs (Rocket Propelled Grenades) threats. It has a mine protection level up to 4a 3b according to STANAG 4569 NATO standard. There is two large bulletproof windows at the front of the vehicle fitted with mesh protection. Two single doors are mounted on each side of the vehicle that opens to the front. The troop's compartment on each side has two small bulletproof windows with mesh protection and one exit door at the rear. There is an escape hatch on the roof. The Ejder Yalcin has a gross weight from 12,000 to 14,000 depending on the armor configuration with a maximum payload of 4,000 kg.
Mobility
The Ejder Yalcin wheeled armored is motorized with a Cummins Diesel engine developing 300 hp at 3,100 rpm, coupled to a fully automatic transmission with a hydrodynamic torque converter. The vehicle can reach 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 600 km. It can accelerate from 0km/h to 40km/h in six seconds. It features a double-wishbone and independent suspension system for all wheels. It is equipped with latitudinal and longitudinal differential locking systems as well as large diameter and wide tires. The vehicle can cross a trench of 1.1m maximum, climb a side slope of 30% and a gradient of 70 %, and a fording depth of 0.7m without preparation.
Accessories
Standard equipment of the Ejder Yalcin includes individual mitigation seats to provide protection against mines and improvised explosive devices blast. The vehicle is also fitted with run-flat tires, engine pre-heating system and one spare wheel mounted at the rear of the hull. In option, the Ejder Yalcin can be fitted with different types of equipment including self-recovery winch, day or night-vision systems, rear ramp, and explosion suppression, and fire-fighting systems for the crew compartment.
