Description
At Eurosatory 2012 the International Defence Exhibition of Paris, General Dynamics European land Systems presents a new version of its Eagle range family the Eagle 6x6 Light Tactical Vehicle personnel carrier. EAGLE is a light tactical vehicle family that has been designed to survive on the battlefields of today and tomorrow against the most aggressive conventional and asymmetric threats. This high level of survivability is achieved while providing unrivalled mobility in all conditions using the unique De-Dion suspension system and patented roll stabiliser.
 
Variants
The Eagle is available in a range of 4x4 and 6x6 configurations and can fulfil roles such as APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier), Ambulance, Recovery, Command, Reconnaissance, Logistics and Military Police with seating capacity for up to 14 soldiers while having reserved capacity for a comprehensive communication and mission system fit.

Armament
At Eurosatory 2012, the Eagle 6x6 was equipped with a Kongsberg Protector remote weapon station (RWS) armed with a .50mm M2 HB machine gun and grenade launchers. M151 PROTECTOR is designed for small and medium caliber weapons, and can be installed on any type of platform. A fully stabilized system providing unmatched observation and engagement capabilities. Detached Line of Sight (DLOS) enables the gunner to keep his sights on target independent of ballistic solution for the weapon/ammunition in use. The PROTECTOR is equipped with thermal imager, color daylight camera and laser range finder, and is compatible with any sensors on the market.
Design and protection
The protected cabin (safety cell) with large internal volume is made of high-strength armored steel. A modular add-on armor made of steel or – for special requirements – made of composite material, offers very high protection against mines, IED and ballistic threats while always maintaining a high payload. In option the Eagle 6x6 can be equipped with add-on armour and mine protection kits. Other ballistic and mine protection solutions available on request IED protection solutions. The EAGLE 6x6 offers payloads of up to 6’000 kg and protected volumes of up to 16 cubic meters. The layout of the vehicle is standard with the engine at the front, crew compartment in the middle and troops cargo area at the rear. The crew cabin at the front is equipped with large bullet-proof window at the front. The driver and the commander are on single door with bulletproof window in the upper part. The rear side of the vehicle is equipped with two single doors, one that open upward with one small bullet-proof window and another which open downward with two stairs.
Propulsion
The EAGLE 6x6 is a compact off-road vehicle motorized with a modern 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine Cummins ISB6.7 E3 245 Common Rail coupled to an Allison transmission 2500 SP with 5-speed automatic. The permanent all-wheel drive is realized with a five-speed automatic transmission and a two stage transfer case. The running gear features a torsion-resistant frame with suspension struts, De-Dion axles and a patented roll stabilizer. The De-Dion suspension system combines the advantages of independent wheel suspension with those of rigid axles. By means of the patented roll stabilizer, maximum off-road traction is achieved and body roll in curves is eliminated. Differential gearbox and brake system are mounted on the chassis frame and thus form part of the suspended mass, which allows high driving comfort. Since the cabin is well isolated from chassis frame and suspension, the noise level in the cabin is very low, even when driving at high speeds.
Accessories
The Eagle 6x6 can be equipped in option with a full range of equipment as self-recovery winch, NBC protection system, towing brake, fire suppression system, rear view camera, and power management system. The troop's area is fitted with eight single seats.
