Description

Georgia unveils February 25, 2012, a local made Tracked Inrfantry Combat vehicle "Lazika" at the Vasiani military firing-range. The Georgian President and Defence Minister drove a few kilometers in a new armored vehicle along with military servicemen. The Lazika was developed, designed and manufactured by the Georgian defence industry. “Lazika” is the second Georgian armored combat vehicle which was produced on the basis of Military Scientific-Technical Center “Delta” subordinate to the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. The first vehicle “Didgori” was presented to the public on the Military parade on May 26 of 2011.

Armament

The Lazika is fitted with a remote weapon station armed with an automatic 23mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun mounted at the right of the main armament. As the weapon is mounted externally it can be aimed and fired with the gunner under complete armour protection. A bank of eight electrically operated smoke grenade launchers are mounted at the front of the hull, at the right of the driver position.

Design and protection
The Lazika combines different types of armor which provide all-round protection for the crew and infantrymen against firing of 14.5 mm caliber armor-penetrating bullets and also against mine blast from underneath at level 4 STANAG. The troop compartment is at the rear of the Lazika with the infantry entering and leaving via a power-operated ramp, which is also provided with an emergency door. The 8 infantrymen are seated on individual mine blast seats, four down each side of the hull.

Propulsion
The power pack is at the front with the exhaust outlet on the right side of the hull. At the moment we do not have any details about the engine, but the vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 70 km/h. Suspension is of the torsion bar type with each side having five road wheels with the drive sprocket at the front, idler at the rear. The upper part of the suspension is protected by armour plates.
Accessories
The Lazika combat vehicle ensures detection and identification of a target in any kind of weather conditions at day-night with thermal vision cameras. The Lazika is also equipped with a fire control system.
