Description
The FOX RRV (Rapid Reaction Vehicle) is a 4x4 light tactical vehicle designed and manufactured by the British Company Jankel. The RRV is based on a 4x4 Toyota LandCruiser 79 chassis militarised and upgraded to provide each vehicle with optimized performance including improved engine power, weight carrying capacity, braking efficiency, and mobility.
The Fox RRV is the latest variant of the FOX family, it was unveiled during DSEI 2015 in London.
The Fox Rapid Reaction Vehicle has been designed with enhanced weight-carrying capacity, internal CH-47 air transportability, and increased off-road agility to push the boundaries of payload, mobility, and performance. The RRV is also equipped with fast-action retractable weapon mounts.
Ease of re-configuration enables dynamic and rapid platform re-roles; for instance additional crew, NATO pallet storage, and casualty evacuation (stretcher storage).
Fox RRV variants:
The Fox Long Range Patrol Vehicle (LRPV) allows between 4 and 6 occupants to cover more distance over longer periods. The platform's firepower, maneuverability and supportability make it ideal for many roles from border patrol to surveillance/reconnaissance, first support/force protection, convoy support, and use in urban operations. The vehicle offers a highly mobile fire support and tactical force protection platform and caters to a range of weaponry with configurable mounts at locations around the platform.
The Fox Tactical Utility Vehicle (TUV) is an all-round tactical platform combining the maximum possible operational advantages with ultimate discretion. The Fox TUV is fitted with armor, weapon stations, specialist tactical systems and communications equipment, specified to customer requirements. It is a reliable, easily maintained, in-service, and highly mobile platform with significant payloads.
The Fox Light Utility Vehicle (LUV) is a true militarised utility vehicle with a versatile, lightweight, load-carrying platform. Comprising an open architecture cabin for multi-role use, the vehicle maximizing payload while being suited to all lightweight configurable logistical needs.

Armament |
The Jankel Fox RRV is equipped with retractable weapon mounts. So the RRV can be equipped depending on the mission’s requirements with a 7.62mm machine gun or a 12.7mm heavy machine gun or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher on the top of the vehicle, a 7.62mm machine gun on a swivel station on the side of the vehicle and smoke grenade launchers at the front and at the rear of the vehicle.

Design and protection |
The Fox RRV is based on a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser 79 chassis. It has an open-top configuration and is outfitted with four lateral doors. The vehicle is manned by 4 to 6 crew members depending on the vehicle's configuration. The vehicle has a gross weight of 4.2 tons.
The Fox RRV can be equipped with removable armor kits to increase the protection of the vehicle against the firing of small arms and mine blast STANAG 4569 Level 1. (Firing of small arms 7.62mm NATO caliber at 30 meters, shell splinters at 100m and hand grenades, unexploded artillery fragmenting submunitions, and other small anti-personnel explosive devices detonated under the vehicle). |
Mobility |
The Fox RRV can be propelled by different engine types: 4.2L 6-cylinder turbo-charged, 4.5L V8 turbo-charged intercooled diesel engine, and 4.0L V6 petrol engine with a manual or automatic transmission. The vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h and has a maximum range of 1200 km. Able to operate in extreme environments the Fox RRV is also ‘dirty fuel’ compatible. The Fox RRV is fully Air-transportable (Boeing CH47 Chinook Helicopter, Lockheed C-130 Hercules, Airbus A400M Atlas). |
