Design
The PL-15 was designed from "Scratch" using a frame made in light aluminum, but it can be manufactured in Polymer depending request of futur customers. The PL-15 is fully ambidextrous for manual safeties, slide release levers and magazine release buttons. Trigger is of Double Action Only type, with concealed hammer. Trigger pull is short and consistent, with pull weight of 4 kg and overall trigger travel of 7 mm. Manual safety, when engaged, disconnects trigger from the hammer, making the gun totally safe. Loaded chamber indicator is provided in the form of a pin that protrudes from the back of the slide when gun is loaded and ready to fire. The PL-15 has an empty weight of 800 gr. and 990 gr. loaded. It has a length of 206 mm, a height of 138 mm, a width of 28 mm.
Ammunition
The PL-15 semi-automatic pistol uses 9x19 Para catridge. The magazine of the PL-15 has a capacity of 15 rounds. In option, a magazine with 18 rounds is also available. The 9×19mm Parabellum (abbreviated 9mm, 9mmP, 9×19mm or 9×19) cartridge was designed by Georg Luger and introduced in 1902 by the German weapons manufacturer Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken. The 9mm cartridge has been manufactured by, or for, more than 70 different countries and has become a standard pistol caliber for NATO and other military forces around the world. Its official nomenclature among NATO members is "NATO 9mm". Standard bullet weight is 7.0 grams (108 gr) to 8.3 grams (128 gr).
Accessories
The PL-15 is fitted with a MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail on the frame, below the barrel. At Army 2016, the PL-15 was equiped with a small flash light mounted on the Picatinny rail under the barrel. The PL-15 pistol features dovetailed front and iron sights; standard profile three-dot sights can be replaced with high profile sights for use with screw-on sound suppressor (silencer) which can be mounted onto optional extended and threaded barrel.
