Description
The L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore, manufactured by CNIM, a French company, is a fast and innovative landing craft. With its Ro-Ro design integrating a mobile loading platform in a catamaran hull, the L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore can unload men, armored vehicles and equipment in the absence of port facilities and in shallow water.

L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore is a sea & combat proven ship. It is in active service since 2011 in the French Navy and since 2016 in the Egyptian Navy. It proves each day its ability to support the Armed Forces on a global scale for both military and civilian assistance operations.

L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore can deploy either a fully motorized infantry platoon complete with its vehicles and equipment,a single heavy (M1, Leopard 2, Leclerc) Main Battle Tank, or 80 tons of military or disaster relief equipment.

Design
Measuring 30 meters long and 12.6 meters wide, the L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore offers a maximum payload capacity of 100 tons. It can reach speeds of up to 30 knots when empty, and 18 knots when loaded to maximum payload. During amphibious operations, it guarantees optimal transit speed, rapid loading and unloading of the deck, and thus a reduction of threat exposure time, while enabling a mother ship to remain a safe distance from the coastline if necessary.
L-CAT® is a fast landing craft dockable adapted to modern LPD/LHD. With its patented lift platform, it is the only vessel able to accomplish amphibious operation with high payload in rough seas or shallow water, Chosen by the French Navy in 2009, L-CAT® is a new generation of expeditionary transport system for military purposes, humanitarian operations, and civilian logistics support.
The L-CAT Ship-to-Shore offers an innovative variable draft system:
» In Catamaran mode, the L-CAT Ship-to-Shore acts as a coastal catamaran. The platform is raised. The catamaran supports the mobile platform.
» In Landing Vessel mode, the L-CAT Ship-to-Shore acts as a landing craft. The platform is lowered into the water and supports the catamaran. The draft is reduced.
Missions
» Military:
Sea base connector for modern «over the horizon» amphibious operations

Fast landing craft dockable in any modern LPD or LHD
Twenty-four continuous hours of operational capability without refueling

» Logistics support:
Exceptional capacity, manoeuvrability, speed and endurance
Transportation of goods and vehicles
Infrastructure independent
Payload : 80 metric tons

» Humanitarian:
Rescue and relief operations

Advantages
L-CAT® Ship-to-Shore is a fast and innovative landing craft whose characteristics are adapted to the necessities of modern amphibious warfare :
» Speed for rapid loading/unloading to and from itsbase ship and quick maneuver to the objective, allowing for a faster pace of operations.
» Autonomy for over-the-horizon maneuver, allowing the base ship to remain safely beyond the horizon without compromising operational success.
» Payload capacity to carry any relevant tacticalpackage to the objective in an efficient manner
The L- CAT® Ship-to-Shore is low-maintenance thanks to its design incorporating robust materials and technologies. Critical equipment is easy to access and commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS).
