The Company PGZ is the leader of the Polish industry and one of the largest defence groups in Europe. It concentrates more than 30 companies (of defence, shipyard, new technologies sectors), achieving annual revenue of circa PLN 5 billion.

The Polish Company HSW S.A. which is the main contractor for the development of the new KRAB has signed an agreement with South Korea to produce a new tracked self-propelled howitzer based on the South Korean K9 chassis.

The K9 Thunder is a South Korean self-propelled 155 mm howitzer developed by Samsung Techwin for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. The main armament consists of a 155 mm/52 caliber ordnance with a maximum firing range of 40 km.

The New KRAB armament is based on the AS90 Braveheart. Under the contract, AS90 Braveheart turrets were supplied to HSW for integration into the KRAB 155mm NATO standard SPH for the Polish Army.

The main armament of the KRAB consists of one 155-mm / L52 howitzer, which is compatible with all standard NATO 155-mm ammunition. The vehicle has a maximum firing range of 40 km. Second armament includes a 12.7mm machine gun mounted on the top of turret. Four smoke grenade launchers are mounted on each side at the front of the turret.
