BAE Systems annouces that Eurofighter Typhoon is out of the UAE jet fighter competition. | |||
BAE Systems annouced today that the Eurofighter Typhoon is out of the selection process for the replacement of 60 jet fighters of the UAE Air Force. Abu Dhabi is still in discussion with other defence firms and notably Dassault Aviation for its Rafale jet fighter. BAE dropped another news when it said "no deal has been found yet with Saudi Arabia on the remaing 48 Typhoon" that the British firm hopes to sell to the Kingdom. |

The defence group said: “BAE Systems and the UK Government have been in discussions with the Government of the United Arab Emirates regarding a range of defence and security capabilities including the potential supply of Typhoon aircraft. The UAE have advised that they have elected not to proceed with these proposals at this time.” On the Saudi deal, BAE has so far delivered 28 aircraft under the contract and stressed that Saudi Arabia had continued to sign contracts with the company relating to the Typhoon order. But there is still no contract for the remaining 48 planes. |
