The Russian Defense Ministry and the Ilyushin Aviation Complex have signed a state contract for the development of the light military-transport plane Il-112V, the press service for the Aviation Complex has reported. "The construction of the test planes is scheduled for 2016 under the terms of the contract. The first test plane flight is scheduled to take place in 2016, too," the report, which was obtained by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday, says. The future Il-112V is intended to replace ageing fleets of An-24 and An-26 transport aircraft

The report states that the first serial plane IL-112V will be built in Voronezh in 2018.

"The contact envisages the construction at JSC Voronezh Joint Stock Plane Construction Society [VASO] of two experimental planes, one for static and resource tests and the other for flight tests," the report says.

According to the Ilyushin Aviation Complex (which is part of the UAC), some thirty Russian enterprises and over fifty suppliers of computer parts are involved in the joint development activities.

"The state contract for the supply of serial Il-112V planes to the Russian Defense Ministry is expected to be signed in 2015. The first serial plane is expected to be built by JSC VASO in 2018," the report says.
The Il-112V is a fully Russian plane. Only Russian-made parts will be used in its construction.

The Il-112V is intended to replace the ageing An-24 ('Coke') and An-26 ('Curl"). With a payload of about 6 tonnes, the aircraft will be able to transport military personnel, light vehicles, and armaments.

The Il-112V is capable of fulfilling missions in various geographical and climatic conditions, in daytime and night-time, and in all weather conditions.
