Bell Helicopter, based in Fort Worth, Texas, has been awarded a $581,113,421 contract for the manufacture and delivery of 15 Lot 12 UH-1Y, 19 Lot 12 AH-1Z, one Lot 13 UH-1Y helicopters and 21 auxiliary fuel kits for the United States Marine Corps and government of Pakistan, the US Department of Defense announced on August 25.

Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas (60 percent); and Amarillo, Texas (40 percent), and is expected to be completed in August 2018.
This contract combines purchases for the Navy ($523,193,712; 90 percent) and the government of Pakistan ($57,919,709; 10 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Government of Pakistan has requested a possible sale of 15 AH-1Z Viper Attack Helicopters in April, along with 1,000 AGM-114 Hellfire II missiles. The Bell AH-1Z Viper is a twin-engine attack helicopter based on the AH-1W SuperCobra, that was developed for the United States Marine Corps.The Bell UH-1Y Venom is a twin-engine medium size utility helicopter, part of the United States Marine Corps' H-1 upgrade program. The UH-1Y and AH-1Z completed their developmental testing in early 2006. As of 2015, 33 Vipers and 92 Venoms are currently in service in the US Marine Corps.
