Russian army simultaneously launches military drills in Southern, Western and Far East regions
 
According to Russian Defense Ministry a series of military exercises with live firing was launched today, Wednesday March 11, simultaneously in Russia’s southern and western regions and in the Far Eas. About 20 Su-25SM are involved it these exercises. Russian Air Force's Sukhoi Su-25SM "Frogfoot" multirole fighter aircraft
     
During a tactical fight training exercise currently held in South Russia’s Stavropol Territory, about 20 Su-25SM (NATO reporting name Frogfoot) fighter-bombers will make 30 sorties to carry out live firing of missiles and rockets.

The Su-25 is is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and designed to provide close air support. The SM upgrade incorporates avionics enhancements and airframe refurbishment to extend the Frogfoot's service life by up to 500 flight hours or 5 years.

Meanwhile, some 7,000 kilometers (4,200 miles) away, the Peresvet and the Admiral Nevelsky amphibious warfare ships have started tactical exercises in the Sea of Japan that includes live firing at coastal targets.

Air defense units in the westernmost Russian region, the Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad, have also launched large-scale exercises involving over 500 servicemen and 100 units of military hardware.
