After passing standard inspections and testing earlier Tuesday, two of the helicopters were flown to an RoC Army Aviation Special Forces base in Guiren, in neighboring Tainan, while the two others were scheduled to be flown to the same base the following day, it added. The Guiren base is where Taiwanese Army personnel are receiving training on the new helicopter.

The US government announced in early 2010 that it would sell Taiwan the 60 choppers, worth a total of US$3.1 billion. The first batch of four was shipped to Taiwan last December.

The 60 helicopters are scheduled to be delivered to Taiwan in 10 shipments, with the final batch of three to be shipped in 2019, the RoC Army said.

The Black Hawks are replacing the RoCA's aging fleet of UH-1H utility helicopters and will be deployed in northern and southern Taiwan for combat and rescue missions, it added.

According to the US Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the Taiwanese UH-60Ms will be configured to include the standard General Electric T-700-GE-701D engines, AN/APR-39A(V)2 radar warning receivers, AN/ALQ- 144A(V)1 infrared countermeasure sets, AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems, AN/AVR-2B laser detecting sets, GAU-19/A .50 calibre Gatling-type guns, and Po-Sheng Communication/Data Link Systems. In addition, AN/AVS-9 night vision goggles will also be supplied.
