The US Defense Department said Thursday the company will complete the production in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania, by April 15.

In 2012 plans were announced to replace the 11 existing CH-47D Chinooks of the Royal Netherlands Air Force with new-build CH-47F models as most cost-efficient instead of upgrading existing airframes. Fourteen new CH-47F's models were ordered in 2015 via a Foreign Military Sales Agreement with the US based on current US CH-47F platforms.

The CH-47F is a comprehensive upgrade of the D variant. Upgrades included new 4,868-shaft-horsepower (3,630 kW) Honeywell engines, an upgraded airframe featuring greater single-piece construction for lower maintenance requirements.
