Russia has signed contracts with Algeria, India and Belarus for the delivery of President-S onboard defense systems, CEO of the Radio-Electronic Technologies Group (KRET) Nikolai Kolesov said on Wednesday. According to Kolesov, the contracts will be in effect for three years.
The President-S onboard defense system is designed to protect military and civil aircraft and helicopters from air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, as well as ground and sea-based antiaircraft artillery systems. In particular, the President-S onboard defense system is mounted on the Kamov Ka-52 (NATO reporting name: Hokum-B), Mil Mi-28 (Havoc) and Mi-26 (Halo) helicopters. The President-S onboard defense system can detect that the plane may be attacked by the enemy’s fighter jets, air defense missile and artillery systems. The President-S onboard defense system can hit and destroy the optical homing heads of air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, including the homing heads of missiles launched from mobile air defense missile systems. |
