The US-base defense giant Lockheed Martin secured yesterday a $132,600,829 contract from France for two U.S. government-configured KC-130J Super Hercules aerial refuelling tanker aircraft, the US Department of Defense announced on September 7 on its website.

"The location of performance is Marietta, Georgia. This modification is 100 percent foreign military sales to France. The work is expected to be completed by April 30, 2020. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity," the US DoD said.
The US State Department on Nov. 10, 2015. approved a $650 million Foreign Military Sale to France for two C-130J and two KC-130J aircraft and associated equipment, parts and logistical support. The French Air Force's acutal aerial refuelling capability relies on a fleet of 14 US-built KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. The KC-130J features modern aerial refuelling capabilities and is designed based on the C-130 Hercules tanker technology. It can carry a maximum fuel load of 61,364lb when fitted with external tanks and accomodates up to 64 paratroopers and equipment. The US Navy and the US Marine Corps issued request for a total of 104 KC-130J tanker aircraft. |
