Peruvian Army takes delivery of final batch of Mi-171Sh-P helicopters

Russia has finished the supplies of 24 Mi-171Sh-P (NATO reporting name: Hip-H) utility helicopters to Peru, according to a source in the Russian defense industry. "On January 14th, the last three helicopters were delivered to Peru by An-124 aircraft. So, the contract signed in 2013 to equip the Peru Armed Forces with 24 Mi-171Sh-P utility helicopters has been implemented".

The contract for delivery of 24 Mi-171Sh-P helicopters was signed in December 2013. The deal is valued at $400 million. The first batch of these vehicles manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant was delivered to the customer in December 2014.
The source pointed out, that Peruvian Army Aviation Brigade had received all 24 Mi-171Sh-Ps. "Peruvian Mi-171Shs have reached the 95,8% level of operability", he emphasized. As a part of the offset agreement at the total cost of USD180 million, the center for the Russian helicopters technical maintenance would be established in Peru, the source said. "There is a plan to launch joint production of the spare parts (for Russian helicopters) in Peru", he added. The contract for delivery of 24 Mi-171Sh-P helicopters was signed in December 2013. The Mi-171Sh-P military transport helicopter is developed on the basis of the Mi-171Sh (Mi-8AMT) and is designed to combat armored ground, surface, immobile and mobile small targets, to destroy enemy forces, transport military cargo, troop delivery, day and night, in regular or complex weather conditions, in a variety of climates. The helicopter can be equipped with the latest small arms, rocket, bomb and gun weapons systems, and protection against attack. The helicopter is designed to transport up to 37 paratroopers, and to transport cargo of up to 4,000 kg, up to 12 injured on streatchers, and to carry out search and rescue operations (including CSAR). |
