The 30 Yak-130 combat trainers will be delivered to the Aerospace Force under the state defense procurement program for 2016-2018.

The Yak-130 combat trainer allows teaching cadets to operate planes in various flight modes and use weapons mounted on fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft. The Yak-130 is the first Russian aircraft to have all digital avionics. The Yak-130 is powered by two up-to-date Al-222-25 turbojet engines with a thrust of 2,500 kgf each.

The Yak-130 combat trainer can be also used as a light attack aircraft. Owing to eight wing hardpoints, the aircraft can carry a combat load of up to 3,000 kg.
