The general concept of the aircraft "is most likely to remain the same," only the "filling" will change. "Today it is difficult to predict how long the R&D will last, but not less than three years," the source said.
The plans to build a line of aircraft on the basis of Su-34, including a fighter bomber, were announced by Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces Viktor Bondarev. The Russian defense ministry signed the first contract for the delivery of Su-34 in 2008. The military are expected to get a total of 150-200 aircraft. The bomber can carry a payload of up to eight tons at a maximum speed of 1.9 thousand kilometers per hour and the range comprises four thousand kilometers. |
