Four F-15S fighter jets from the Royal Saudi Air Force arrived Friday in Turkey's Incirlik Air Base in southern Adana province, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu. Undersecretary of the Saudi Defense Ministry, Ahmad al-Asiri has confirmed the landing, added Anadolu.

Asiri said Saudi Arabia and Turkey would not act alone but as part of a wider coalition against the terrorist group. The Saudi government said earlier this month that it was willing to contribute to the fight against Daesh with troops on the ground, under the umbrella of the U.S.-led coalition.
More than two dozen Saudi Air Force personnel and a cargo of military equipment have arrived in Turkey to prepare for a joint air campaign in Syria. Turkish media said on Thursday that some 30 officers had arrived onboard two C-130 military cargo planes at Incirlik airbase two days ago. This deployment would be the first ever for Saudi warplanes in Turkey. There are already fighter jets from the United States, Britain and France air forces at Incirlik, all involved in ongoing US-led air strikes against Daesh in Iraq and Syria. |
