Harris Corp to provide KF-X fighter program with BRU-47/57 bomb rack units.

The BRU-47/A Bomb Rack Units / Bomb Release Units were designed for use on the F-15E. On the F-22 Raptor, a BRU-47/A rack is used on each pylon to hold the external tanks.

The BRU-57 is a smart-weapon-enabled, twin store carrier that doubles the payload capacity of aircraft without the need to modify any hardware, which allows for a wide array of payload configurations. The BRU-57 was developed by installing an Electronic Component Assembly (ECA) and its associated hardware into a U.S. Navy baseline Vertical Ejector Rack (VER). Two USAF standard BRU-46/A racks are utilized on the BRU-57/A. The BRU-57/A is used to double the 1000 pound class weapon/store load out of both MIL-STD-1760 compatible stores and non MIL-STD-1760 compatible stores.

South Korea launched the KF-X project in 2015 with the aim of producing more than 120 cutting-edge fighters to replace its aging jet fleet of F-4s and F-5s.

It plans to pour a total of 18 trillion won (US$16 bn) into the project by 2026, with the production of six prototype jets scheduled to begin in July next year.
