Russian National Guard receives first batch of Mi-8ATMSh multirole helicopters

Russian Helicopters supplied the first batch of multipurpose military-transport Mi-8AMTSh helicopters produced by the Ulan-Ude enterprise to the Russian federal service of the National Guard. The craft arrived to the deployment base and went on combat duty, the press service of the holding said.

"The holding continues to equip special-designation state aviation with helicopters. The supplied Mi-8AMTSh have modern equipment which allows maintaining public order and safety, countering terrorism and guarding important state facilities and assisting border protection round-the-clock," Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO for sales Vladislav Savelyev said.
The press office did not specify how many helicopters there were in the first batch. The Mi-8AMTSh is based on the Mi-8AMT multipurpose helicopter. Mi-8AMTSh helicopters combine combat, search-and-rescue and transport capabilities and guarantee air support to the Russian Guards in any mission. The Mi-8AMTSh has an advanced avionics suite, including a weather radar, satellite navigation and infrared equipment and night-vision goggles. The helicopter can carry various types of weapons, including missile systems, attached to ejector racks on each side. The helicopter has a maximum takeoff weight of 13 tons, a maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), a cruising speed of 230 km/h (143 mph), a range of 610 kilometers (379 miles) and a payload of 4 tons. |
