Indonesia armed forces induct new helicopters, maritime patrol aircraft

According to local medias, the Indonesia-based aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, delivered three AS555 and two Panther ASW helicopters, as well as one CN235-220 Maritime Patrol Aircraft. |

The handover documents were signed by the CEO of PTDI, Elfien Goentoro, and the head of the Defense Service Agency Kemaran Laksda TNI Agus Setiadji, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and the Indonesian Navy chief of stadd, Admiral Ade Supandi.
Three of the five helicopters handed over yesterday will be operated by the Indonesian Army, while two antisubmarine helicopters will be flown by the country's Navy. PTDI and the Indonesian MoD signed a purchase contract for 12 AS555AP helicopters and one CN235 plane on December 2012. “With the latest handover of the three [AS555] helicopters, PTDI has delivered nine of the 12 helicopters purchased by Defense Ministry,” PTDI president director Elfien Goentoro said. The remaining three helicopters will be delivered in late January, he added. The helicopters will be armed with FZ219 rocket launchers and FN Herstal HMP250 12.7 mm machingun pod, the Indonesian Army says on its website. |
