TsAGI testing amphibious variant of L-410UVP-E20 aircraft.
The Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) completed the creation of the hydrodynamic component and tests of the float-type landing gear for the light L-410UVP-E20 aircraft, the institute said.

"TsAGI scientists calculated outside lines of the floats and the general hydrodynamic scheme of the amphibious aircraft. Composite technologies used in float production helped produce sophisticated spatial surfaces to ensure high hydrodynamic qualities of the floats together with sufficient worthiness for internal waters, low spraying and satisfactory width of stable aquaplaning," it said.
The projected characteristics were confirmed by towing and catapult trials of the amphibious aircraft.
"After the trials splice plates were installed on the floats which increase V-shape bottom and hydrodynamic course stabilizers to decrease calculated loads and increase cruising stability. Control tests confirmed the upgrade was effective," head of the TsAGI amphibious aircraft office Larisa Gontsova said.
L-410 flight trials were held on the Volga River close to Volzhanka airfield. The aircraft on the floats demonstrated close to the calculated hydrodynamic landing and takeoff characteristics, moderate spraying and did not demand high piloting skills during takeoff, landing and maneuvering.
