Work will be performed in the United Kingdom and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2021. The McDonnell Douglas/Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft. The C-17 commonly performs tactical and strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include medical evacuation and airdrop duties.
NATO member countries are pooling their resources to charter special aircraft that give the Alliance the capability to transport troops, equipment and supplies across the globe. Robust strategic airlift capabilities are vital to ensure that NATO countries are able to deploy their forces and equipment rapidly to wherever they are needed.
