French Air Force pilot training is provided under a program led by the DGA, the French supply agency known as FOMEDEC (Formation Modernisée des Équipages de Chasse / Modernized Training of Hunting Crews).
The Program is designed to train future pilots of fighter planes for the French Air Force. CAE won a subcontract to develop a complete PC-21 ground training system, which was delivered in 2019 and which included two PC-21 mission simulators and a series of partial task training devices PC-21.
"The addition of a third PC-21 mission simulator will significantly increase the synthetic training capabilities of the French Air Force at the Cognac-Châteaubernard air base," said Marc-Olivier Sabourin, vice President and General Manager, Defense and International Security at CAE. "The PC-21 ground training system plays a critical role in the overall training program and an additional PC-21 mission simulator will provide more flexibility while contributing to more efficient flight training on the fleet."
