Kamov Ka-62 transport rotorcraft enters production stage.
Russia’s Arseniev Aviation Company (AAK) Progress (a subsidiary of the Russian Helicopters of state corporation Rostec’s), has launched the manufacturing of a low-rate initial production (LRIP) batch of Kamov Ka-62 transport helicopters, according to the press department of the administration of Primorsky Krai.

"The [Progress] plant has begun producing the LRIP batch, which comprises six Ka-62 helicopters, including two helocraft intended for transportation flights in Primorsky Krai. The deliveries of the rotary-wing aircraft is scheduled for 2021," said the press department in a statement released on March 10.
According to the Russian Helicopters, the Ka-62 has been designed to meet the AP-29, CS-29, and JAR-OPS3 international airworthiness requirements. The helicopter has a maximum take-off weight of 6,500 kg and can transport a 2,200 kg cargo inside its cargo compartment. The helicopter is powered by two Ardiden3G turboshaft engines with a power output of 1,775 hp each, producing a top speed of 310 km/h, a cruise speed of 290 km/h, a climb rate of 14 m/s, a static ceiling of 3,200 - 3,800 m, and a maximum flight range of 720 km. The rotary-wing aircraft is controlled by a three-strong crew and has a passenger capacity of up to 15 persons.
The United Engine Corporation (a subsidiary of Rostec) is planning to launch the serial production of a Russian-made engine for the Ka-62 in 2023. The powerpack, which is designated VK-1600V, will have a power output of 1,600 hp.
