Saab signs support agreement with United Arab Emirates for GlobalEye Aircraft.

Saab has signed a support agreement with the United Arab Emirates regarding the advanced airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) solution GlobalEye. The agreement is valid between 2020 and 2022, with an order value of 144.9 MUSD.

The agreement covers support and maintenance for the airborne surveillance system GlobalEye. The support and maintenance will be executed locally in the United Arab Emirates.

GlobalEye is a multi-role airborne early warning & control (AEW&C) platform from Swedish defence and security company Saab. GlobalEye consists of a suite of sensors using Saab's Erieye ER (Extended Range) radar and mission system, installed in the Bombardier Global 6000 long-range business jet.

According to Saab Group, the GlobalEye is capable of detecting and tracking a combination of airborne and surface targets, the latter on both land and sea, while mission times of up to eleven hours in duration are possible.

The aircraft has a length of 30.3m, a wingspan of 28.7m and wing area of 94.8m². The maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of the aircraft is 45,132kg.

GlobalEye is equipped with an advanced self-protection system based on the latest technology developed by Saab.

The main sensor of Global Eye system is the Erieye ER (extended range) S-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) multi-mode radar. The radar is designed to collect target data in a large air volume and/or across a vast surface area, in heavy clutter and jamming environments.
