Russian Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters redeployed to Tajikistan for trilateral drills.
Russian combat-transport Mi-8 helicopters and Mi-24 gunships were redeployed from Novosibirsk region to Gissar airfield in Tajikistan for trilateral exercise at Kharb-Maidon range 20 kilometers from the border with Afghanistan, the Central Military District said.

“Four helicopters were airlifted from Russia by An-124-100 Ruslan heavy aircraft. The helicopters will land tactical assault and provide support to advancing forces during the destruction of an illegal armed formation,” it said.
The helicopters were partially dismantled before airlifting and assembled again at the destination airfield.
The Russian-Uzbek-Tajik exercise will be held at Kharb-Maidon range on August 5-10.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said it will train destroying bandit formations, air reconnaissance and defense of objects. The exercise will engage 2.5 thousand men, including 1800 from Russia, and close to 500 hardware units.
The Russian base in Tajikistan will be the backbone of the exercise.
