Sunette van Rensburg, Sales Director for HENSOLDT's Optronics Division in South Africa, emphasized: “HENSOLDT has been a pioneer in airborne imaging technology for several decades. With the ARGOS-15, we offer our customers a solution that will keep them at the forefront of modern surveillance and reconnaissance missions.”

The ARGOS-15 stands out due to its advanced modular design and AI-optimized capabilities, ensuring integration flexibility across a wide range of platforms. The system is equipped with next-generation multispectral sensors, combining thermal, daytime, and shortwave infrared (SWIR) imagery, delivering exceptional image quality regardless of lighting or weather conditions.

Through the integration of an image fusion algorithm, the system can simultaneously display multiple spectra, improving visibility and object detection in complex environments. Additionally, a 4-axis stabilization architecture, coupled with a high-precision inertial measurement unit (IMU), ensures outstanding image clarity even during long-range surveillance missions, with stabilization accuracy below 5 µrad.

One of the system's highlights is its embedded AI, enabling automated target detection, classification, and tracking. With an integrated graphics processing unit (GPU), the ARGOS-15 reduces operator workload with a sophisticated object classifier capable of recognizing targets with a single click. This technology offers real-time processing capabilities, essential for missions requiring quick decision-making in dynamic environments.

The system also features a comprehensive laser suite, including a dual-wavelength laser designator and a high-power rangefinder, making it an ideal solution for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions.

The ARGOS-15 is designed to adapt to a wide range of platforms, such as medium-altitude tactical drones, helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, and aerostats, with operational capabilities up to 50,000 feet. This versatility makes it ideally suited for military, paramilitary, public safety, and search and rescue operations.

Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the ARGOS-15 complies with South African export regulations, ensuring broad exportability and seamless integration into existing systems. HENSOLDT provides robust local support, guaranteeing operational readiness and service excellence for customers worldwide.

The first deliveries of the ARGOS-15 are expected in mid-2025. With its unique capabilities and smooth integration across various platforms, this next-generation system is set to become a global benchmark for airborne surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

This launch positions HENSOLDT as a key player in the field of surveillance technologies, offering a tailored response to modern security needs, both for military and civilian operations.
