Policy shift: Germany ends embargo on delivery of 48 additional Eurofighters to Saudi Arabia.
Germany has reversed its stance and will now allow the delivery of 48 additional Eurofighter Typhoon jets to Saudi Arabia. This policy shift is a response to Saudi Arabia's actions in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and its improved relations with Israel.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced this change during her visit to Israel on January 6, citing the altered geopolitical landscape since the conflict involving the Palestinian Resistance group Hamas on 7 October. The German government also emphasized Saudi Arabia's constructive attitude toward Israel as a contributing factor.
Previously, Saudi Arabia had planned to acquire an additional 48 Eurofighter jets through a 2018 Memorandum of Understanding with the United Kingdom. However, a ban on arms sales to Saudi Arabia, implemented by both Britain and Germany over concerns about human rights violations and the Yemeni war, led to the cancellation of this deal. While the UK lifted its ban in 2020, Germany had maintained its ban until now.
